[Remote] Senior Software Engineer, GMS App Team
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Planet is hiring a full-stack software engineer for its defense and intelligence pillar to build a next-generation global monitoring application and integrate with federal partners. The role develops scalable backend services, frontend applications, and data solutions that provide users rapid access to geospatial datasets.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the entire engineering lifecycle, from concept to implementation
- Ownership of the quality and availability of mission systems
- Contribute to the improvement of our architecture, infrastructure, and processes
- Spearhead the design and development of scalable backend services and frontend applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate complex customer requirements into seamless features
Skills
- 6-8 years industry experience
- Fluency in Golang, Python, & Postgresql or related technologies
- Full stack application development experience (Database, Services, Web)
- Experience building frontend applications in React
- Experience with maintaining infrastructure-in-code
- Experience with logging, alerting, and monitoring tools to support system quality
- This position requires access to export-controlled information, and as such, employment (or hiring of a contractor) is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adjust on the fly to customer needs
- Experience with infrastructure such as AWS and GCP and infrastructure-as-code
- Experience building systems with many integrations
- Experience with geospatial technologies and data
