[Remote] Senior Software Engineer - Java Cloud (Health100 Platform)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CVS Health is building a more connected, convenient, and compassionate health care experience through its Health100 AI-native health technology platform. The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs, coordinate releases, support production deployment and monitoring, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Partner with technical leaders and the open-source community to contribute to technical designs, frameworks, roadmap definition, and requirements-gathering
• Provide domain knowledge and engineering insight to guide early designs, accelerate project decision-making, and maintain close oversight of technical execution
• Encourage and maintain engineering excellence within the team to build reliable distributed systems that our customers can build their business on
• Plot and execute on the path from prototype to production for features
• Collaborate with business, product, architecture, security, digital, and engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions that address customer needs, solve complex challenges, and drive continuous improvement
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture by demonstrating ownership, accountability, and enthusiasm while contributing to automation initiatives and supporting high-performing remote teams

Skills

• 5+ years of Java development experience  utilizing Spring Boot and/or Spring MVC  with ability to work in Cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure and end-to-end DevOps pipeline
• 3+ experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend systems
• Strong skills in relational and/or NoSQL databases
• Strong foundation in software engineering: problem solving, data structures, algorithms, patterns, concurrency, agile methodologies and sprint planning best practices
• Experience coordinating release cycles, preparing release notes, and ensuring all development tasks and dependencies are tracked
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)
• Healthcare domain experience-e.g. PBM/NCPDP/HIPAA
• Prior experience in a hybrid role involving both software development and release/operations management
• Experience with an Application and Performance Monitoring platform
• Knowledge of message queues and event-driven architectures (Pub/Sub, Kafka, etc.)
• Experience with SRE or DevOps practices, including incident management and root-cause analysis
