[Remote] Senior Software Engineer, Java | Content Team
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. NinjaOne provides a unified IT operations platform for endpoint management, patching, backup, and remote access. The Senior Software Engineer will build manifest-driven, extensible platform capabilities through Java, Kotlin, and Python development, collaborate across engineering teams, and help design, scale, and troubleshoot high-quality API-first software.
Responsibilities
- Manifest-driven development to extend NinjaOne platform capabilities
- Python development to create workers that extend NinjaOne’s value via third-party integrations
- Java and Kotlin backend development to expose NinjaOne platform functions for extensibility
- Collaborate with the AI workflow, server, and platform teams to achieve the team’s mission
- Participate in architecture and design reviews to build high-quality software that is scalable and API-first
- Troubleshoot production issues across the technical stack using logs, metrics, and traces
- Other duties as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of experience in Java software development for product applications, or equivalent, with solid expertise in Kotlin
- 4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems
- Experience leveraging AI tooling to accelerate software development
- Experience working on systems at scale and finding solutions to scale systems further
- Working knowledge of a breadth of OOP design principles
- Expertise in scaling data structures and object-oriented design
- Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development using frameworks like Jersey or Spring
- Relational database design and development experience
- Experience with both client- and server-side development for responsive messaging
- Caching systems expertise; experience with Redis will make you a standout candidate
- Expert knowledge of quality testing practices
- Location – We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, \*IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents
- NinjaOne is unable to hire for this role within the city limits of Chicago. We will consider all qualified candidates who reside outside of the city proper or are willing to self-relocate
- Python experience is a plus but not required
