[Remote] Senior Software Engineer (Python & Ruby on Rails)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Karias Health is a health benefits platform combining self-funding, consumer-first navigation, AI-enabled technology, and cost containment strategies. The Senior Software Engineer will architect and build a multi-tenant white-label platform, establish data isolation and partner configuration capabilities, apply AI-assisted engineering practices, and mentor offshore engineers while remaining hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Multi-tenant platform architecture and data isolation. Designing the tenancy model and database abstraction that supports white-label deployment across our product line, with the security and separation guarantees a regulated healthcare environment requires
• Partner theming and configuration infrastructure. Building the re-skin layer and per-tenant configuration system that lets partners deploy under their own brand without forking the product
• Technical leadership. Mentoring our offshore engineers, raising the bar on code quality, and serving as a technical point of accountability for what ships on the platform
• AI-assisted engineering practice. Using AI tooling across the full development lifecycle — specification, implementation, test generation, and code review — and helping establish the guardrails that make that safe in a regulated environment
• Full assessment of the existing codebase and infrastructure, with a written point of view on what carries forward into the white-label platform and what does not
• Tenancy model and data isolation approach decided, documented, and agreed with the Lead Engineer and CPTO
• Multi-tenant foundation in build, engineering standards and CI/CD practice established with the offshore team, first partner theming path proven end to end
• White-label platform in production for our first enterprise partner, with a repeatable path to onboarding the next one

Skills

• • Approximately 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of owning architecture end-to-end rather than implementing someone else's design
• • Production Ruby on Rails experience — comfortable working in a mature Rails codebase and making structural decisions within it, including tenancy scoping, migrations at scale, and service boundaries
• • Demonstrated fluency with AI-assisted development — you already use AI tooling for specs, implementation, testing, and review, and have a considered point of view on where it helps and where it does not
• • Strong Python and production AWS experience
• • Direct experience building multi-tenant SaaS, including tenancy, data isolation, and per-tenant configuration decisions you have lived with the consequences of
• • TypeScript and JS framework experience
• • Demonstrated technical leadership — mentoring engineers, setting standards, running code reviews — without needing to move into pure management to do it
• • Healthcare, fintech, or another regulated industry where compliance shaped the architecture
• • Experience shipping LLM-powered product features to real users
• • Experience working with distributed or offshore engineering teams
• • Familiarity with HIPAA and SOC 2 in a build context
