[Remote] Software Engineer

AfterQuery is a research lab investigating the boundaries of artificial intelligence through novel datasets and experimentation, backed by investors including Y Combinator and Box Group. The company is seeking software engineering experts to train and evaluate AI models through code review, model evaluation, and original task creation. This remote, project-based role requires independent completion of well-documented software engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Complete software engineering tasks across a range of AI training and evaluation projects
• Review and evaluate code and model outputs for correctness and quality
• Deliver clear, well-documented work independently

Skills

• 2+ years of real-world software engineering experience (full-time or substantive internships count)
• Strong fundamentals in at least one major programming language
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
