[Remote] Software Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Stefanini Group is a global provider of IT consulting, systems integration, application, and strategic staffing services. The company is seeking a Software Engineer to enhance an environment-comparison tool through automation and visual dashboards, enabling proactive configuration-drift detection, environment parity, and improved production stability.

Responsibilities

• A tool was developed, use while standing up new colo environments that allows us to quickly compare configurations server by server in all environments to identify problem areas
• There is an opportunity to enhance this tool to become a valuable daily Prod and non-Prod resource for identifying anomalies both proactively for configuration drift as well as reactively as an immediately available source of reference during a production incident
• The proposal would be to add automation and to display the results in a visual fashion
• Developers and production support resources can instantly see the current condition of all environments at any given time
• The data points can include basics like directory structure and ownership, account permissions, or more advanced items such as WebSphere custom configs, database auto-extends settings, and TLS encryption levels
• Within a couple of months, this could be demo'd for the Check processing as an example for other business lines
• Most of the key data points are applicable across systems, so it is very portable to other areas
• The enhanced tool would be valuable for ensuring Colo environment parity ahead of ACH colo cutover
• Unlike other tools, ALL environments are available in a single view as opposed to a single server or application
• This capability could significantly improve system stability, reduce configuration drift, and identify abnormalities before they become problems as opposed to relying on generated alerts after a problem occurs

• 5. Strong programming skills in Java with strong object-oriented skills
• 6. Proficient knowledge of at least one Unix or Unix variant system
• 7. Proficient knowledge of at least one major relational database system
• 8. 3-4 plus years of experience in large systems software design and development experience
• 12. Good understanding of agile software development methodologies and the contrasts to waterfall methodologies
• W2 candidates Preferred!

• 9. Experience with Spring, MVC, Java Script, Ajax is very helpful
• 10. Experience with Jenkins and GIT is helpful
• 11. Working knowledge of database SQL, creating objects and stored procedures is a plus
