[Remote] Software Engineer, Associate - NASA
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. INNOVIM provides science, engineering, data analytics, and technology services to government agencies. The company is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to perform operations, design, and development for NASA’s Earthdata Search Client and Common Metadata Repository, including building tools for discovering and improving earth science data. The role also involves deploying product updates, identifying production issues, and constructing scalable architecture in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from user story generation, through design, development, automated testing and operational support
- Develop new feature ideas to meet the ever-evolving needs of our end-users
- Continually help the team grow by sharing new ideas and industry best practices
- Suggest improvements to processes and tools to help the team be more efficient
Skills
- Experience in cloud environments (AWS preferred) EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway
- Proficiency in programming languages, front-end technologies and frameworks such as TypeScript, JavaScript (Node.JS/React), Python
- Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch for search and data operations
- Strong grounding in Agile/Scrum methodologies and use of tools like Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and software development lifecycle practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline
- 0-3 years of software development experience
- Experience with geospatial/GIS data formats and tools (GeoJSON, KML, ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Familiarity with machine learning/AI concepts
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills for large-scale distributed systems
- Prior experience presenting at technical conferences or leading knowledge-sharing sessions
