[Remote] Software Engineer - Distributed Systems & Networking
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Piper Companies is seeking a Software Engineer - Distributed Systems & Networking to join a technology organization focused on network simulation, automation, and infrastructure platforms. The role builds and scales backend services using Go and Python, develops APIs and microservices, enhances CI/CD automation, and supports distributed systems, networking, observability, and platform scalability.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain distributed backend services using Go and Python
- Develop scalable platform capabilities that support high availability, low latency, and large-scale workloads
- Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines to improve software delivery, testing, and deployment automation
- Build and maintain APIs, microservices, and platform integrations for networking and infrastructure solutions
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize telemetry, observability, and performance monitoring capabilities
- Troubleshoot and improve system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency
- Contribute to architecture discussions focused on distributed computing, service orchestration, and network-aware applications
- Support development efforts involving enterprise networking concepts, routing, switching, and TCP/IP technologies
Skills
- 4+ years of software engineering experience in backend or platform development
- Strong experience developing applications in Go (Golang)
- Proficiency with Python for automation, tooling, or backend services
- Experience designing, building, and supporting distributed systems platforms
- Understanding of networking fundamentals equivalent to CCNA-level knowledge, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting
- Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes
- Knowledge of scalability, latency optimization, observability, telemetry, and performance engineering best practices
- Experience working within Linux-based environments
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, containers, or Kubernetes
