[Remote] Software Engineering Manager

The role involves providing technical direction, mentoring engineers, and managing the development of secure, scalable services.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Java engineers
- Provide technical leadership across architecture, design, development, and delivery
- Design and support scalable, secure distributed systems and microservices
- Establish best practices for code quality, testing, security, CI/CD, and DevOps
- Partner with Product, QA, DevOps, and Security teams to deliver reliable releases
- Support production systems, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, monitoring, and performance optimization
- Drive Agile delivery, engineering improvements, and adoption of effective tools and technologies
- Contribute to hiring, performance management, and career development
Skills
- 7+ years of Java development experience, including strong Spring/Spring Boot expertise
- 2+ years of technical leadership or engineering management experience
- Strong knowledge of Java, OOP, concurrency, distributed systems, and microservices
- Hands-on AWS and cloud-native development experience
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, automation, and observability
- Experience operating production systems and improving reliability and performance
- Experience working in secure, regulated, or restricted environments
- Experience with Kafka or similar event-driven technologies
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Oracle, Redis, and modern engineering/monitoring tools
- Strong communication, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills
- Experience with automated unit, integration, and component testing
- FedRAMP experience is highly desirable
