[Remote] Sr Data Engineer

The company is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with strong Power BI expertise to design and maintain data pipelines, analytical data models, dashboards, and reporting infrastructure while working directly with client stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and analytical solutions that support the client's business intelligence and reporting needs
- Develop, optimize, and deliver interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for business stakeholders
- Build and maintain analytical data models that enable scalable reporting and business insights
- Write and optimize advanced SQL queries to support reporting and analytics
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality across all reporting solutions
- Collaborate directly with client stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into analytical solutions, and communicate insights clearly
- Implement data security best practices, including Row-Level Security (RLS) and Column-Level Security (CLS) where applicable
- Optimize Power BI performance — report design, DAX calculations, and data model efficiency
- Support version control and delivery discipline using Git and modern DevOps practices

- • Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, performance tuning, and stored procedures
- • Hands-on experience designing and implementing ETL / ELT pipelines
- • Strong data modeling and analytics fundamentals
- • Experience implementing data security practices — Row-Level Security (RLS), Column-Level Security (CLS)
- • Proficiency with Git and modern source control workflows
- • Currently set up as an independent contractor in the U.S. (EIN or SSN, ability to invoice, manage own taxes and insurance)
- • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the engagement. This role is open to U.S. Citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (Green Card holders)
- • Nice to have: Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or Synapse Analytics
- • Nice to have: Familiarity with the Microsoft/Azure data ecosystem
- • Nice to have: Experience in education, workforce training, or student information systems
- • Nice to have: Prior experience in IT services, consulting, or professional services environments
