[Remote] Sr DevOps Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Dice is presenting an opportunity with its client in Chicago for a Senior DevOps Engineer on a long-term contract basis. The role focuses on managing secure public cloud infrastructure, automating cloud provisioning, supporting application teams, and enhancing CI/CD and Site Reliability Engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
• Partners with architects and application development teams to evaluate new cloud services, features, & enhancements
• Determines secure patterns & configurations for cloud services
• Writes code, scripts, and templates to automate the provisioning and de-provisioning of cloud services using tools like Terraform and cloud provider APIs
• Ensures the security of cloud infrastructure
• Uses Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to ensure the availability and resilience of public cloud hosted applications
• Provides technical consulting and expertise to application teams using public cloud services
• Manages public cloud environments
• Enhances automation and Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
• Manages cloud development tools including CI/CD orchestration platforms, source code repositories, artifact repositories, code quality tools, etc
• May perform additional duties as assigned

Skills

• Working knowledge of core Google Cloud Platform services
• In depth understanding of Kubernetes
• Understanding of and experience creating CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of TDD and automated unit, integration & acceptance testing
• Experience in researching and prototyping new capabilities
• Experience using and administering Linux and Windows Server operating systems
• Experience with development tools such as Nexus, Artifactory, SonarQube, Git, SVN, Jira, etc
