[Remote] Sr. Full Stack Java & Azure Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Cognizant is hiring a Senior Full Stack Java & Azure Engineer to design and deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable cloud-native applications. The role collaborates across product, architecture, security, quality engineering, DevOps, and operations teams while strengthening engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and support secure, reliable, and maintainable software aligned with approved architecture and engineering standards
- Develop Java/Spring Boot APIs, modern web and PWA capabilities, Azure integrations, data-access components, and containerized workloads
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and quality controls, security checks, branch protections, and repeatable deployment processes
- Apply security-by-design practices across authentication, authorization, secrets management, sensitive data, dependencies, logging, and least-privilege access
- Mentor engineers, provide actionable code-review feedback, and establish reusable engineering patterns and development standards
- Proactively identify technical risks and delivery roadblocks and collaborate with stakeholders to drive resolution
Skills
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with strong full-stack development experience across modern web applications, APIs, data stores, and distributed systems
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, API development, and cloud-native application design
- Experience designing secure, maintainable, and testable software using object-oriented principles, design patterns, and API-first approaches
- Experience building cloud-native, containerized, and event-driven solutions, including asynchronous integrations
- Strong DevSecOps experience across CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, dependency and security scanning, source control, and deployment controls
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, infrastructure as code, cloud configuration, secrets management, and environment promotion strategies
- Strong troubleshooting and observability skills across applications, integrations, data, pipelines, and cloud platforms
- Ability to provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate effectively across product, architecture, security, QE, DevOps, and operations teams

- Advanced experience building and supporting Java/Spring Boot applications on Microsoft Azure
- Experience designing and operating containerized and event-driven applications in complex enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of secure software development and DevSecOps engineering practices
- Experience establishing reusable engineering patterns, standards, automated controls, and deployment practices
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams
