[Remote] Sr Platform Engineer – DevOps (GCP)

The Sr GCP Platform Engineer, DevOps will own complex cloud infrastructure solutions and lead the design, implementation, and management of a platform built on Google Cloud Platform. The role collaborates with development, operations, and security teams to maintain a robust, scalable, secure, and cost-effective platform.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and manage our GCP infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and containerization services (Kubernetes Engine)
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management
- Develop and implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems using GCP tools to proactively identify and troubleshoot platform issues
- Ensure the platform is highly available, scalable, secure, and compliant with industry best practices
- Stay up-to-date with the latest GCP offerings and advancements in cloud technologies
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
- Optimize the platform's efficiency and performance, ensuring cost-effectiveness
- Document infrastructure design, operations procedures, and best practices
Skills
- * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- * 6+ years of experience in DevOps, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years focused on GCP
- * Proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale cloud infrastructure on GCP
- * In-depth knowledge of GCP services including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Monitoring, and IAM
- * Proficiency with scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Go
- * Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
- * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- * Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
- * Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning on GCP
- * Experience with infrastructure security best practices and security automation on GCP
- * Bonus: Certifications in GCP technologies (e.g., GCP Certified Professional Cloud Architect)
- * Experience with container orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) a plus
- * Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) a plus
