[Remote] Staff Software Engineer, Developer Ecosystem
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Reddit is a community platform built around shared interests, conversations, and developer-created applications. The Staff Software Engineer will shape the developer platform’s technical direction, build backend, infrastructure, client, and full-stack capabilities, lead major initiatives, and improve experiences for external developers.
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve the core platform services and capabilities that power the developer experience
- Create new capabilities that help external developers build great apps on Reddit
- Contribute across the full development cycle, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch
- Review code, design documents, product specifications, and user experiences
- Help shape team strategy and the future direction of the platform
- Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and contribute to a culture of thoughtful ownership
Skills
- 6+ years of industry experience working on platform functionality, developer tools, full-stack products, or app platforms
- Experience leading large-scale technical projects from design through delivery
- Strong backend or platform engineering experience, along with the ability to work across the stack when needed
- Familiarity with technologies such as C++, Java, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or React
- A habit of using AI tools in your daily work to improve productivity and software quality
- A track record of mentoring engineers and raising the bar for software engineering practices
- A passion for building high-quality software that people enjoy using
- An entrepreneurial mindset: you're self-directed, curious, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to turn ideas into action
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment and explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience building Reddit apps with the Devvit platform
