[Remote] Staff Software Engineer, Workflow Platform

The Staff Software Engineer will lead the design, implementation, optimization, and operation of data control plane platforms, drive complex technical initiatives, strengthen reliability and performance, shape long-term architecture, and guide AI-native product direction while contributing to open source communities.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, optimize, and operate Pinterest’s data control plane – Workflow platform, Data context platform
- Collaborate with stakeholders and partner teams across the organization to design technologies that unlock innovations
- Lead complex technical projects and initiatives driving them from architecture through execution
- Lead the team to strengthen reliability and performance
- Shape the long-term technical direction for scalable, reliable, and modernized data control planes
- Lead the team’s product direction to be AI native
- Engage with and contribute to open source communities such as Apache Airflow, Datahub, and Jupyter notebook to solve Pinterest’s challenges
Skills
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience designing, building, operating large-scale production distributed systems
- Strong experience designing and maintaining infrastructure platforms
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python or Java
- Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence architecture across teams
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a drive for technical excellence and innovation
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- This position is not eligible for relocation assistance
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/quarter and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country
