[Remote] Systems Administrator, Associate

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Purdue IT supports reliable and secure technology services for the university community. The Associate Systems Administrator will maintain Windows server environments, monitor system performance, apply upgrades and security patches, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to stable enterprise infrastructure while working with experienced professionals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Windows server environments
• Monitor system performance
• Apply upgrades and security patches
• Contribute to a stable infrastructure
• Support 900+ Windows Servers for the Purdue University system
• Work an on-call rotation, typically one week every 5-7 weeks
• Work productively as part of a team to complete ‎larger projects
• Learn and ‎use scripting ‎languages and other tools to automate routine tasks
• Independent problem-solving skills and an ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems

Skills

• • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of experience and education
• • Entry-level professional we are asking for experience in the Windows server environment
• • Fundamental knowledge of overall system management
• • An understanding of networking and distributed computing tools and techniques
• • Willingness to learn new tools and techniques to integrate new technology
• • Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills
• • Self-‎motivation and ability to work independently with general supervision on daily tasks and projects
• • Independent problem-solving skills and an ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field preferred
