[Remote] Technical Project Manager
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Trexin Consulting is seeking a Principal Technical Project Manager to lead payer and provider onboarding onto a secure healthcare transactions platform. The role manages end-to-end onboarding delivery, stakeholder relationships, technical connectivity coordination, certification, documentation, and risk resolution across multiple organizations.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage the onboarding lifecycle: own the end-to-end onboarding journey for assigned payer and provider organizations — from sandbox/synthetic-data testing through conformance and connection validation, executed agreements, production credentialing, and go-live readiness checks
- Build and maintain project plans and timelines across multiple concurrent organizations, tracking milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues, and reporting status to both client leadership and internal Trexin leadership
- Sequence and coordinate rollout activities as the Platform progressively activates transaction types (prior authorization, then claims and remittance, pharmacy authorization, and quality/value reporting) on each organization’s existing connection
- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for onboarding payer and provider organizations, building trust and confidence throughout what can be a multi-step, multi-month process
- Run regular check-ins, status meetings, and executive updates with client stakeholders, keeping momentum high and proactively surfacing and resolving blockers before they impact timelines
- Coordinate with third-party gateway operators and implementation partners (HIEs, cloud providers, EHR vendors, capability providers) who may be operating gateways or performing integration work on an organization’s behalf
- Help each organization select and plan its connection pathway (direct FHIR server integration, EHR-native Da Vinci API, or a SMART on FHIR application) and translate requirements between the organization’s IT/EHR teams and the Platform’s technical resources
- Understand secure gateway setup and connectivity concepts closely enough to ask informed questions, identify risks, and keep technical work streams aligned to the project plan — without needing to personally build the integration
- Perform or oversee light-touch configuration tasks after training as capability grows — for example, assisting with basic gateway or connection settings to help keep timelines on track
- Ensure the Platform’s certification path (sandbox testing, conformance checks, organizational submission, supervised first implementation, formal certification) is followed accurately for each organization
- Maintain clear, current records of onboarding status, agreements, credentials, and testing outcomes for internal tracking and client reporting
- Identify and resolve onboarding blockers (technical, contractual, or organizational) quickly, escalating to the right internal or client stakeholders when needed
Skills
- • 10+ years of progressive delivery/consulting experience, operating at a principal, director, or senior program manager level on large, complex, multi-stakeholder client engagements — not primarily executing a plan someone else designed
- • Proven ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment in ambiguous or fast-moving situations, and make delivery and risk decisions without needing constant direction
- • Executive presence and the credibility to influence client executives and sponsors as a trusted advisor on program strategy, risk, and trade-offs — not just a status reporter
- • Experience shaping onboarding approach, playbooks, and best practices from the ground up, and mentoring or providing direction to other project resources
- • Proven project or delivery management experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder implementation or onboarding projects, ideally within healthcare, health IT, or another regulated/technical industry
- • Strong command of core PM disciplines (plans, RAID logs, milestone tracking, status reporting) and the ability to manage several onboarding tracks in parallel
- • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the executive presence and empathy to manage payer and provider relationships, and the persistence to keep multi-month onboarding efforts moving
- • A self-directed, results-oriented operator who takes ownership of outcomes, anticipates issues, and drives organizations through each onboarding milestone without heavy oversight
- • Demonstrated experience managing external client and partner relationships, including comfort working with less technical business stakeholders and highly technical IT counterparts alike
- • Working familiarity with HL7 FHIR and the Da Vinci Project standards (FHIR resources, implementation guides, APIs) and X12 healthcare transactions — sufficient to converse credibly with technical teams and ask the right questions, not to build integrations from scratch
- • General understanding of payer/provider administrative transactions (prior authorization, eligibility, claims/remittance) and federal interoperability requirements such as CMS-0057
- • Technical aptitude and willingness to be trained on secure gateway setup or similar configuration tasks
- • Comfortable operating in a fully remote capacity, with a distributed team and client stakeholders
- • Able and willing to travel one to two times to the Northeast U.S. over the course of the approximately five-month engagement
- • Preferred: PMP, CSM, or similar project management certification
- • Prior exposure to EHR connectivity models, API-based integrations, or health information exchange (HIE) environments a strong plus
Benefits
- Fully remote capacity
