Senior Full Stack Java Developer - 100% Remote
Optomi, in partnership with a leading enterprise organization, is seeking a Full-Stack Developer to support a large-scale modernization initiative. This role will focus on migrating legacy mainframe functionality to a modern technology stack using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and Kafka. The ideal candidate is a strong full-stack engineer who can quickly ramp up on an existing codebase, contribute across front-end and back-end development, and take ownership of development, testing, integration, and delivery. Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular.
- Modernize and migrate functionality from legacy mainframe systems to modern applications and services.
- Build and integrate APIs, microservices, and Kafka-based messaging solutions.
- Work with business users and technical teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
- Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, integration, deployment, and production support.
- Maintain high standards for code quality through testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
- Make technical and architectural decisions for complex distributed systems.
- Collaborate across engineering teams to improve system reliability, performance, and integration.
- Identify technical risks and proactively develop solutions to address them.
Experience:
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Strong hands-on full-stack development experience with Java and Angular.
- Experience with Java Spring and/or Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming technologies.
- Experience developing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
- Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred.
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry is a plus.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT is a plus.
