About the Role
The Marketing Director sets the strategy; you turn those plans into campaigns that attract new listeners and readers. You will own campaign execution, optimization, and reporting across local markets, working with city teams and the Senior Data Analyst to understand performance and explain what is driving audience growth.
Responsibilities
Turn campaign plans into audiences, placements, schedules, and budgets. Handle one-off paid requests from city teams, from strategy and setup through reporting. Build, launch, and manage campaigns in Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads Manager, Reddit Ads, and programmatic DSPs. Own targeting, bidding, pacing, and budgets across local markets. Optimize daily and weekly, reallocating spend and adjusting creative, bids, and audiences based on results. Test creative, audiences, placements, and landing pages, and document what you learn. Brief and collaborate with creative teams on platform-native ads. Set up and maintain tracking, pixels, conversion events, and UTMs. Partner with the Senior Data Analyst on reporting covering CPA, ROAS, cost per subscriber, and reach. Deliver weekly and monthly updates with clear takeaways for city and network teams. Monitor privacy updates, new ad products, and platform changes, and explain their implications for City Cast. Qualifications 6-8 years of hands-on paid media experience, including execution, optimization, and reporting, gained in an agency, in-house, or both. Deep, recent experience running Meta and TikTok campaigns, plus working knowledge of Reddit Ads and at least one programmatic DSP, such as The Trade Desk, DV360, or StackAdapt. A record of managing meaningful budgets across multiple campaigns or markets and improving performance. Comfort with pixels, conversion APIs, UTMs, attribution, and measurement limitations. Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills, experience partnering with analysts or data teams, and the ability to explain results to non-marketers. Clear, kind communication and curiosity about local news and its audiences. Nice to have Experience marketing podcasts, newsletters, or subscription media products. Experience with audio, CTV, or podcast advertising, including platforms such as Spotify Ads, Pocket Casts, or Overcast. Familiarity with geo-targeted campaigns across multiple markets.
