Senior Staff Engineer - Remote

Job Description
Must have - Retail or e-commerce industry experience. We are looking for an experienced Staff Engineer Digital Engineering to lead a backend engineering team and develop scalable microservices and APIs supporting enterprise web and mobile commerce applications. The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience with Golang, AWS, REST APIs, and Microservices Architecture, along with technical leadership and experience managing backend engineering delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead backend developers and QA engineers, driving Agile sprint planning, estimation, and delivery. Design, develop, and maintain scalable Golang microservices and REST APIs. Build and support AWS-based applications, including Lambda and containerized services. Maintain and troubleshoot existing Java Spring Boot APIs. Support migration of legacy .NET services to Golang. Implement secure API authentication using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and token-based security. Conduct code reviews, establish engineering standards, and mentor developers. Manage CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, production releases, and application monitoring. Provide L3 escalation support for critical production incidents. Utilize GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity. Required Skills 8 10 years of backend software engineering experience. Strong hands-on production experience with Golang (Go). Expertise in Microservices Architecture and REST API development. Strong AWS experience, particularly Lambda and container-based deployments. Working experience with Java Spring Boot. Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and API security. Technical leadership and Agile team management experience. Experience with GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Redis, and Datadog. Familiarity with Jira and GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Skills .NET application modernization and migration to Golang. Retail or e-commerce industry experience. API Gateway and third-party platform integrations. Postman, Pytest, JMeter, or Locust.
