Software Engineer

Remote Full-time Now Hiring

Platform Software Engineer – Full Stack Python/React Employment Type: Direct Hire / Full-Time Location: Fully Remote – U.S. About the Opportunity CornerStone Technology Talent Services is seeking an experienced Platform Software Engineer to join a small, collaborative engineering team supporting a business-critical software platform. This is a great opportunity for a true full-stack engineer who enjoys working across the entire application—from the database and backend to APIs, integrations, and the user interface. You won't be limited to just building new features. You'll also troubleshoot real production issues, work with business data, maintain system integrations, improve reporting and automation, and help make an established platform more reliable and effective. The team also uses AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and similar platforms as part of its everyday engineering workflow. We're looking for someone who knows how to use these tools effectively while still applying strong engineering judgment to review, test, and validate the code they produce.

What You'll Do

Build Full-Stack Applications Develop and improve production features using Python, React, and SQL . Work across the full application stack—from database changes and APIs to the user interface. Turn requirements into working, tested, production-ready features. Add functionality to an established application while following existing architecture and coding standards. Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback. Troubleshoot Production Issues Investigate and resolve issues reported by platform users. Trace problems across the front end, backend/API, database, integrations, and connected systems . Troubleshoot data inconsistencies and determine where problems are occurring. Handle application fixes and smaller enhancements independently. Identify potential defects and data-quality issues before they become larger problems. Work with Data & Integrations Support integrations with business systems such as CRM, accounting, and document-management platforms . Troubleshoot API failures, synchronization problems, and incorrect field mappings. Perform data backfills, schema updates, and integration maintenance. Help ensure information remains accurate as it moves between systems. Reporting & Automation Build and maintain dashboards and automated business reports. Generate reports and business documents programmatically, including Excel workbooks, PowerPoint presentations, and PDFs . Validate reporting against source systems, particularly when working with financial information. AI-Assisted Development Use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI coding platforms as part of your development workflow. Review and test AI-generated code before it reaches production. Help develop AI-enabled capabilities such as document extraction, workflow automation, data analysis, reporting, and conversational tools. Contribute to LLM-based functionality such as RAG, tool calling, extraction workflows, and prompt evaluation when needed.

What We're Looking For

The strongest candidates will have: 4+ years of professional software engineering experience , including supporting applications in production. Strong hands-on development experience with Python , preferably Flask, FastAPI, or Django. Experience with React or another modern JavaScript framework. Strong SQL and relational database skills, including complex queries, schema changes, data troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Ability to build functionality across the database → backend/API → front end . Strong debugging and production troubleshooting skills. Experience working within an existing, mature codebase. Understanding of REST APIs, system integrations, data movement, and synchronization . Hands-on experience using Claude Code, Cursor, or another AI-assisted/agentic coding tool in meaningful software development work. Strong written communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a remote team.

Nice-to-Have

Experience Any of the following would be a plus: Microsoft Azure, especially Azure App Service, Azure SQL, or Key Vault AWS or Google Cloud Financial or data-intensive business applications FinTech, real estate, investment, infrastructure, or related platforms Generative AI or production LLM applications Retrieval-Augmented Generation ( RAG ) AI-powered document extraction Agentic AI workflows or tool calling Salesforce or other CRM integrations Automated generation of XLSX, PPTX, or PDF files CI/CD pipelines Application monitoring and observability Experience working on smaller engineering teams where developers share responsibility for both new development and production support Who Will Do Well in This Role? This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys figuring out why something isn't working , not just building new features. You should be comfortable receiving an issue or requirement and following it through the database, backend, APIs, integrations, and front end until you understand the problem and can implement the right solution. You don't need to be the overall system architect. However, you should be able to work independently within an established architecture, take ownership of your work, and recognize when a larger technical decision needs to be discussed with senior engineering leadership. If you're a full-stack Python engineer who enjoys solving real production problems and already uses modern AI development tools to work more effectively , we'd like to hear from you. Why CornerStone Technology Talent Services? CornerStone Technology Talent Services connects experienced technology professionals with opportunities where they can solve meaningful technical challenges and make an impact. For this opportunity, we're looking beyond a simple Python/React checklist. We're interested in engineers who demonstrate full-stack ownership, strong debugging skills, production experience, attention to data accuracy, and practical use of modern AI development tools .
