Technical Lead (Magento2)

This is a remote position.

• Lead and manage a team of developers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and support.
• Collaborate with project managers, stakeholders, and other teams to define project requirements, objectives, and deliverables.
• Ensure adherence to project timelines, milestones, and quality standards.
• Provide technical expertise and make critical decisions on architecture, technology stack, and implementation approaches.
• Conduct code reviews, provide feedback, and ensure code quality, adherence to best practices, and coding standards.
• Collaborate with the design and QA teams to ensure seamless coordination and alignment across all aspects of the project.
• Monitor and track project progress, identifying and addressing any issues or risks.
• Stay updated with the latest trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in Magento 2 development.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative development environment, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Integrate and customize third-party systems (ERPs, CRMs, payment gateways etc.) and APIs to ensure seamless data exchange and functionality.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and implement improvements (caching strategies, DB tuning).
• Lead from the front during critical production issues—quickly assess the situation, perform hands-on diagnostics, identify root causes, and implement effective fixes or mitigation strategies while ensuring clear communication with stakeholders
• Security:
• Ensure secure development practices (RBAC, CSRF/XSS prevention, secure API access).
• Configure Cloudflare for firewall rules, DDoS protection, rate limiting, bot mitigation, and spam prevention.
• Performance
• Own and maintain a good performance score for the website, prioritizing Core Web Vitals (CWV) scores.
• Optimize Redis for caching, configure Varnish for full-page caching, manage RabbitMQ for asynchronous messaging, and ensure efficient search functionality.
• Take accountability for the success and stability of project deliverables in production.

Requirements

• Total Experience:
• Minimum of 7-10 years of overall web development experience.
• Relevant Experience:
• 7 years of experience working as a technical lead, preferably in Magento 2 projects.
• Experience in managing and leading development teams.
• Experience in overseeing the end-to-end development process for Magento 2 projects.
• Magento Tech Stack: Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and MySQL.
• eCommerce Platform: Deep knowledge of Magento 2 (Open Source and/or Adobe Commerce).
• Magento Backend Core Skills:
• Magento 2 custom module development.
• Magento 2 architecture and database structure.
• Magento 2 APIs: REST, GraphQL, asynchronous & bulk APIs.
• Understanding of Magento 2’s indexing, cron jobs, and caching architecture.
• UI Components, KnockoutJS (basic understanding for backend rendering).
• Multi-store, B2B, and MSI configurations.
• Services:
• Caches - Varnish Cache, Redis, Fastly (Imp. for Adobe Commerce)
• Queue Processing - RabbitMQ
• ElasticSearch / OpenSearch, Adobe Live Search or standard Elastic-powered search.
• Bonus:
• Hyva Theme, Hyva Checkout etc.
• Adobe Commerce modules: B2B, MSI (Multi-Source Inventory), Page Builder.
• Docker-based local dev tools like Warden, DDEV, or Docker Compose setups.
• Exposure to headless Magento setups (PWA Studio, custom APIs, frontend decoupling).
• Experience with Shopify, BigCommerce, or migrations to/from Magento (nice to have).
• Optional Skills: PHPUnit, Cloudflare, New Relic
• Certification: Magento 2 Professional Developer Certification (optional).

7-10 years web development experience, 7 years as technical lead on Magento 2 projects, proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, deep Magento 2 knowledge, team leadership, and experience with caching, queues, and search services.
