Video Editor - AI Video (Remote)
About the Company
Outlier is an AI training platform owned and operated by Scale AI. It connects experts with projects that help train and evaluate AI models. Through a range of evaluation and feedback tasks, Outlier contributors help improve how advanced AI systems perform in real-world situations.
About the Role
Outlier is seeking detail-oriented English speakers to evaluate AI-generated media and voice interactions. As an independent contractor, you will review AI-generated images, videos, and audio, participate in live conversations with AI voice models, and assess how well the outputs follow instructions. You will also identify quality issues and provide clear, evidence-based written feedback. This is a fully remote opportunity with flexible scheduling and no minimum weekly hours. Contributors can choose when and how much they work, depending on available projects and their schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Hold live, scenario-based conversations in English with AI voice models and evaluate how natural, useful, and clear their responses sound. Compare pairs of AI-generated images and videos to determine which output better follows the given prompt. Inspect generated media closely, including zooming in on images and replaying audio or video, to identify quality issues. Identify problems such as distorted anatomy, flickering, unnatural movement, text errors, and audio that does not match the video. Rate outputs based on prompt adherence, quality, and realism. Write specific explanations in English describing the issues observed or heard and supporting evaluation decisions. Evaluate edited images against original versions where required. Label first-person videos of people or robots performing hands-on tasks by dividing clips into individual actions and correcting AI-generated caption drafts. Assess AI-generated speech for naturalness, pronunciation, and similarity to a target voice. Record short voice explanations of evaluation decisions when required by a project. Common Project Tasks Image Evaluations: Compare AI-generated images created from the same text prompt and assess instruction adherence, visual quality, and visible AI artifacts. Video Evaluations: Rank AI-generated videos against text prompts or compare edited videos with their original source clips. Video Caption Labeling: Break down first-person videos of people or robots performing practical tasks into individual actions and write precise captions. Audio and Voice Evaluations: Evaluate AI-generated speech for naturalness, pronunciation, and how closely it matches a target voice.
Required Qualifications
Fluent English communication skills, including strong written communication and comfort with natural, everyday conversation. Strong attention to detail and the patience to review images, videos, and audio closely. Ability to think on your feet and participate in realistic, conversational scenarios. Experience writing short, evidence-based explanations or reviews. Ability to make clear evaluation decisions, including when both options have flaws.
