About The Role We are seeking a skilled Java Web Application Developer to join our dynamic team supporting the Test and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA) program. This position offers the flexibility of remote work and is based in Alexandria, VA. The successful candidate will play a vital role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining web applications that provide critical capabilities for the United States Department of Defense test and training communities. Your work will directly contribute to accelerating capability delivery to warfighters, enhancing operational effectiveness, and supporting national security initiatives. As part of our team, you will collaborate with engineers and developers to create solutions that are secure, reliable, and aligned with mission requirements. Your expertise will help refine existing applications and develop new features that meet stringent cybersecurity and performance standards.
Qualifications
U.S. Citizen with an active Secret or higher security clearance Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience (experience may substitute for degree) Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining full-stack web applications and software systems At least 2 years of experience in identifying and validating software requirements Proficiency with web UI technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript (NodeJS), and Angular Experience designing and building RESTful web services Knowledge of Java EE/Jakarta EE integration, Servlets, and JDBC Experience working with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases and SQL queries Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles, Java Streams, Lambda expressions, Collections framework, and Exception handling
Responsibilities
Collaborate with an existing team of web developers to deliver full-stack web applications supporting operational needs Document and validate web application requirements to ensure alignment with mission objectives Develop automated testing frameworks and scripts in accordance with test plans to ensure software quality Provide architectural design support and development expertise to meet application specifications Participate in software design discussions, recommending appropriate tools, technologies, and methodologies Refactor and update existing web applications to incorporate new features, improve performance, and enhance reliability Review and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and security best practices for web applications Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving application issues to maintain high system availability Stay current with emerging technologies and incorporate them into development practices where appropriate
