Workday Architect
Enterprise Architect, Workday Remote within California | Salary up to $170,000
About the Role
I am working with an organization seeking an experienced Workday Enterprise Architect to lead the technical architecture, integration strategy and ongoing evolution of its Workday platform. This is a strategic, hands-on architecture role with responsibility for how Workday connects with other enterprise systems, how data moves across the technology landscape, and how the platform is designed to support future business needs. You will lead the architectural direction of a significant Workday transformation, establishing standards for configuration, integrations, data management, security and platform extensibility. Working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams and external implementation partners, you will ensure solutions are scalable, well governed and aligned with the organization's wider technology strategy. This opportunity is particularly suited to someone who has owned or co-owned a Workday environment within an organization and wants to take responsibility for its long-term architecture, rather than focusing exclusively on project-based consulting delivery.

Lead the target-state architecture for a major Workday transformation, assessing opportunities for modernization, consolidation and platform improvement. Establish architecture standards and design principles covering configuration, security, data models, business processes and extensibility. Review proposed solutions and ensure designs are scalable, maintainable and aligned with agreed architectural standards. Lead the design and governance of integrations between Workday and other enterprise applications, including APIs, middleware, authentication, error handling and monitoring. Develop enterprise data management standards covering data modeling, governance, ownership and movement between systems. Shape the architecture supporting Workday reporting, analytics and financial planning integrations. Define appropriate governance and security patterns for emerging technologies, including AI-enabled enterprise solutions. Evaluate new Workday functionality and determine how platform releases and capabilities can be adopted effectively. Lead technical discussions with business stakeholders, translating complex requirements into practical architectural solutions. Provide technical direction to Workday analysts, implementation partners and external consultants. Evaluate proposed technical solutions, contribute to project scoping and statements of work, and review delivered solutions. Identify and manage technical debt while promoting reusable, configuration-led solutions. Document architectural decisions, standards and reference designs to support consistency and long-term platform knowledge. What the Role Has to Offer Salary up to $170,000 , depending on experience.
