About the Role

Mitratech is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to provide technical leadership for a distributed engineering team developing scalable software solutions integrated with artificial intelligence. This role combines software architecture, AI-assisted development, agentic AI integration, and team mentorship. You will guide architectural decisions, design modular systems, and help developers break complex product requirements into clear engineering tasks. You will also establish effective practices for using AI tools throughout software development, including code generation, documentation, testing, and reviews. The goal is to improve development speed and quality while maintaining high standards for security, performance, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and deployment of AI-integrated software solutions. Design scalable, modular systems and communicate architectural decisions across services and technical domains. Apply modern software architecture principles, including domain-driven design (DDD) and microservices. Architect and develop MCPs, APIs, and AI agents that integrate AI capabilities into existing platforms. Develop and refine prompt strategies that help AI agents generate code, documentation, and tests. Use large language model (LLM) tools to automate repetitive development tasks and improve engineering efficiency. Translate high-level product goals into actionable engineering tasks suitable for both human developers and AI-assisted execution. Conduct detailed code reviews of human-written and AI-generated code, ensuring correctness, security, and performance. Mentor distributed developers on technical design, clean code practices, and effective adoption of AI development tools. Collaborate with the team to improve build and deployment pipelines through AI-enhanced code review and testing processes. Promote consistent engineering practices and support continuous improvement across the development organization.
