Role Description The Finance Manager is a part-time remote role responsible for overseeing key financial operations that support Portland High School’s mission and daily activities. The position includes managing budgeting processes, monitoring expenditures, and preparing regular financial reports for leadership. The Finance Manager will handle accounts payable and receivable, assist with audits, and ensure compliance with relevant school district policies and financial regulations. This role also involves collaborating with administrators on financial planning, maintaining accurate records, and recommending process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and transparency.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning within an organization or educational setting. Strong skills in financial reporting, analysis, and interpreting data for non-financial stakeholders. Proficiency in accounting principles, including managing accounts payable/receivable and general ledger reconciliation. Comfort with financial software, spreadsheets, and remote collaboration tools. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities on a part-time schedule. Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present financial information in an accessible way. Understanding of compliance requirements, internal controls, and audit processes; experience with public or school finance is an advantage. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; relevant certification (such as CPA or CMA) is a plus. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics.
