[Remote] Associate Data Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Hyperdrive Bio is a healthcare data startup seeking an Associate Data Engineer to ingest and structure data from CLIA laboratory partners. The role focuses on building data pipelines, transforming raw lab data into clean datasets, automating workflows with Python, and troubleshooting data issues.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines from partner lab sources
- Write and optimize SQL to structure, clean, and transform data
- Use Python to automate ingestion, transformation, and QA workflows
- Troubleshoot data issues independently and flag what needs escalation
Skills
- • 1–2 years of experience (new grads and bootcamp grads welcome)
- • Solid SQL skills — comfortable writing queries, joins, and basic optimization
- • Solid Python skills — scripting, automation, data handling
- • Coachable — takes feedback well and applies it
- • Hard-working and resourceful — figures things out, doesn't stall waiting for answers
- • Self-sufficient — can own a task from start to finish with minimal oversight
- • No prior lab/pathology/healthcare experience required
- • Portfolio required — must have a portfolio of completed data engineering projects (e.g., GitHub, personal site, writeups). Applicants without a portfolio will not be interviewed
- • Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar)
- • Exposure to ETL/ELT pipeline development
