[Remote] Custom Software Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Akkodis is seeking a Custom Software Engineer to support mission-critical banking applications. The role focuses on designing, developing, testing, maintaining, integrating, and modernizing enterprise Mainframe applications using COBOL, while collaborating with stakeholders and technical teams to resolve complex issues and deliver reliable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Mainframe applications using COBOL and related technologies
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable software solutions aligned with banking industry needs
- Apply architecture patterns and software engineering best practices to enhance application design, performance, and maintainability
- Develop and support application enhancements, system integrations, and modernization initiatives across enterprise platforms
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions to improve system reliability
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, QA teams, and developers to ensure successful project delivery
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience with Mainframe Technologies
- 5+ years of experience with COBOL Development
- 5+ years of experience working with Architecture Patterns and Enterprise Application Design
- Strong expertise in:
- 0 COBOL
- 0 Mainframe Development
- 0 Software Engineering
- 0 Enterprise Application Development
- 0 Application Maintenance & Support
- 0 System Integration
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications in production environments
- Banking or Financial Services industry experience
- Strong client communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- Knowledge of legacy system modernization and enterprise architecture frameworks
- Experience collaborating with distributed development and support teams
