[Remote] Data Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Ookla is a global connectivity intelligence company that provides network and connectivity insights. The entry-level Data Engineer will develop and operate high-volume data processing jobs and libraries, troubleshoot system performance, and support data scientists, analysts, and product managers.
Responsibilities
- Develop high volume data processing jobs across various platforms including Redshift, Athena, Iceberg, Spark and Airflow
- Debug queries, monitor jobs, identify bottlenecks in system performance and improve efficiency
- Support and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product managers
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
- 1+ year of professional experience in data engineering
- Knowledge of SQL, databases (MySQL / Redshift / Athena), Data modeling
- Workflow orchestrators (Dagster, Airflow, Prefect)
- Experience working with Python
- Strong communication skills both in person and via virtual mediums
- ETL/ELT design patterns
- Experience with AWS cloud services
- Experience with high volume distributed data processing in Spark
