[Remote] Founding Senior Software Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Eggmed is building the next-generation operating system for behavioral healthcare. They are seeking a Founding Senior Software Engineer to own major parts of their backend architecture and product development while working closely with the founders to create a platform that integrates various healthcare functionalities.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship production features across our platform
- Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code primarily in Python and Django
- Own major technical initiatives from design through deployment
- Build and maintain APIs powering our web platform, AI systems, and integrations
- Improve architecture, scalability, reliability, and developer experience
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Own and improve our AWS infrastructure, monitoring, logging, and operational reliability
- Build systems supporting healthcare workflows, scheduling, messaging, billing, telephony, and AI automation
- Participate in architectural discussions and technical decision-making
- Debug complex production issues across infrastructure and application layers
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and leadership to rapidly deliver customer value
- Help establish engineering culture, standards, and best practices as one of the company’s earliest engineers
Skills
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production applications
- Strong expertise in Python and Django is required
- Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining production REST APIs
- Hands-on experience operating and scaling production systems on AWS
- Strong experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure management
- Experience with Docker and modern deployment workflows
- Strong understanding of PostgreSQL, query optimization, migrations, backups, and performance tuning
- Experience building scalable distributed systems and asynchronous workflows
- Experience with monitoring, logging, observability, and production incident response
- Comfortable debugging complex production issues across application and infrastructure layers
- Familiarity with Redis, background workers, queues, and caching
- Strong ownership mentality with the ability to independently drive projects from idea to production
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment with evolving priorities
- React experience
- Healthcare, EHR, or RCM experience
- HIPAA familiarity
- HL7, FHIR, EDI, or healthcare interoperability
- Experience with telephony, messaging, or real-time systems
