[Remote] IT Software Engineer 5 (Lead Java/AWS Engineer)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Dice is hiring an IT Software Engineer 5 to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable cloud-native applications on AWS. The role focuses on technical leadership, Java and Spring Boot microservices, cloud modernization, DevOps, distributed systems, and collaboration with product and architecture stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor software engineers in delivering business-critical applications
- Drive architecture decisions, cloud modernization, and engineering best practices
- Ensure scalability, security, performance, and reliability of solutions
- Champion DevOps, automation, CI/CD, and operational excellence
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and stakeholders to achieve business goals
Skills
- Java (latest versions), Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs
- AWS: ECS/Fargate, IAM, ALB, RDS, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager
- OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
- Docker, CI/CD, GitHub
- Distributed Systems & Cloud Architecture
- Observability, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- SQL/NoSQL Databases
- Event-Driven Architecture & API Integrations
- Performance Optimization
- AI-Assisted Development Tools
- Bachelor's Degree (Required)
- 15+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years in a technical leadership role
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, and problem-solving skills
- Candidates located in or near Chicago, IL
- Availability for occasional travel as needed
- Stable work history with strong tenure
