[Remote] Lead DevOps Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. LT Harper Recruitment Group is recruiting a Lead DevOps Engineer for a fintech startup operating infrastructure that supports millions of daily transactions for tier 1 financial institutions. The role will lead the direction of the AWS platform, including Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, disaster recovery, high availability, and observability.
Responsibilities
- Own the AWS estate end to end: architecture, automation, reliability, and how it scales
- Run and scale Kubernetes on EKS as the orchestration layer for production services
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code in Terraform, automating operational work that is still manual
- Own CI/CD pipelines and release engineering, including security scanning built into the pipeline rather than bolted on after
- Design and actually test disaster recovery and high availability using cloud-native AWS services
- Build the observability layer: metrics, logging, and monitoring across every environment
Skills
- • US, East Coast (ideally), remote role
- • Lead role, 8+ years' experience
- • 8+ years in DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering, including time leading platform direction rather than executing someone else's
- • Hands-on AWS at high transaction volume, ideally infrastructure supporting 5 million or more transactions a day
- • Kubernetes in production, on EKS
- • Terraform and infrastructure as code as your default way of working
- • Ownership of CI/CD pipelines in a distributed environment (Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, Spinnaker, or similar)
- • Production observability tooling: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog
- • CKA certification
- • Financial services, payments, or another regulated high-volume environment
- • Python or Bash for real tooling, not just glue code
- • Comfort explaining technical trade-offs to people who are not engineers
