Position Overview

We are seeking a meticulous, tech‑savvy Remote Medical Records Data Entry Specialist to become an integral part of our dynamic field care team. In this fully remote role, you will bridge the gap between front‑line clinicians and our centralized data management system, ensuring that every chart, encounter, and billing entry meets the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality. Your work will enable clinicians to make informed decisions, support quality improvement initiatives, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements—all while working from the comfort of your own home office.

If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment, have a passion for data integrity, and are committed to safeguarding patient privacy, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately transcribe and enter patient encounter data into the electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring 100% compliance with internal data standards.
  • Verify and reconcile medical records, lab results, imaging reports, and medication histories for completeness and consistency.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA and brighthush’s privacy policies.
  • Collaborate with field care teams to resolve data discrepancies, missing information, and documentation gaps in a timely manner.
  • Perform regular audits of entered data to identify trends, errors, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of data entry protocols, templates, and best‑practice guidelines.
  • Provide training and support to new team members on EHR navigation, data entry standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in cross‑functional projects, such as quality reporting, population health analytics, and billing reconciliation.
  • Stay current on industry regulations, EHR updates, and emerging technologies that impact data management.
  • Report any system issues, data anomalies, or security concerns to the IT and compliance teams promptly.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in health information technology, medical records, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical records or health information management within a clinical setting.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) platforms (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Allscripts) and data entry tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proven track record of maintaining high data accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
  • Solid understanding of HIPAA regulations and experience handling sensitive patient information.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently while staying connected with a virtual team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Health Information Management (RHIA, RHIT, or equivalent).
  • Experience with medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management.
  • Knowledge of clinical terminology, ICD‑10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and reporting dashboards.
  • Experience in a telehealth or remote care environment.
  • Multilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other high‑demand languages.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Data Integrity: Commitment to precision, consistency, and completeness in all data entry tasks.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable navigating complex EHR systems and troubleshooting basic technical issues.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to identify patterns, spot errors, and propose actionable improvements.
  • Communication: Clear, concise, and professional communication with clinicians, IT staff, and compliance officers.
  • Time Management: Prioritize tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain productivity in a remote setting.
