[Remote] Technical Writer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Acena Consulting is a professional services firm specializing in the calculation, documentation, and defense of U.S. tax incentives, including the Research & Development tax credit and cost segregation studies. The Technical Writer owns the R&D tax credit project documentation process, interviewing client subject matter experts and producing clear, defensible technical narratives while managing multiple projects and supporting quality control.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate client project lists against Section 41 qualification criteria and identify potential non-qualifying projects
- Select representative project samples for SME interviews in coordination with the project team
- Schedule and conduct interviews with client Subject Matter Experts to gather technical project detail
- Draft, edit, and finalize technical project narratives that clearly document qualified research activities
- Manage a portfolio of concurrent client projects, keeping documentation on track against delivery timelines
- Review colleagues' project narratives to support quality control across the team
- Develop subject-matter expertise in R&D tax credit methodology and help educate clients on the process
- Contribute ideas and participate in initiatives that improve our documentation process and client experience
Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills, with the ability to translate technical detail into clear narrative writing
- Strong business acumen and a genuine desire to grow and continue learning
- Ability to manage a portfolio of projects independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A team-oriented mindset paired with confidence, humility, and leadership
- Background or coursework in engineering, software, or another science-related field is preferred, but not required
