Senior Director, Finance Transformation
About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional finance transformation leader to help shape the future of our Finance organization. You’ll be the product leader for Finance: deciding what we build, buy or automate and leading the team that delivers it. Reporting to the SVP Finance, you will be responsible for transforming how Finance operates at HubSpot through AI, automation, advanced analytics, technology, process redesign and new organizational models. You will set the multi-year roadmap and personally drive the highest-impact initiatives. You will guide Finance into a new model where automation handles the transactional work, AI and analytics deliver predictive insight, and more of the team's time goes to shaping enterprise decisions. You’ll lead a ~20-person team across analytics engineering, ML engineering, program management and finance systems support, and partner closely with the core systems owners across the company. This is a hands-on leadership role with a significant enterprise wide scope. You will lead a well-established team, influence a broad network of stakeholders, and hold the bar on SOX compliance and auditability throughout.
What You'll Do
Define the future Finance operating model. Evaluate, evolve and own a multi-year transformation roadmap that leverages technology to strengthen our processes, systems, data, and governance. Set and track key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the success of transformation initiatives (e.g. productivity, close speed, forecast accuracy, insight quality). Build an AI-native Finance function. Identify and scale high-value applications of AI and automation across Finance. Redesign workflows end to end rather than automating broken ones. Decide where work belongs with people, AI, or automation, and set governance and human accountability for AI-enabled processes. Modernize transactions and workflows. Identify opportunities to simplify and automate high-volume, repetitive and transactional Finance activities impacting a variety of end-to-end processes including, but not limited to, FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Quote-to-Cash (Q2C), Record-to-Report (R2R), Treasury, Tax and Internal Audit. Keep controls strong and scalable across financial systems. Make insight forward-looking and self-serve. Help Finance increase production of forward-looking, predictive and actionable insights. Develop scalable tools and analytical products that enable business leaders to better understand performance drivers, tradeoffs and potential outcomes. Work with Finance leaders to improve the speed and quality of enterprise decision support. Identify opportunities to make financial insights increasingly self-service and technology enabled. Drive cross-functional delivery. Set prioritization, governance, and accountability for major initiatives. Build alignment across Finance, Engineering, FinTech, Operations, Internal Audit, and the business without relying on direct authority. Oversee cross-functional project teams, external consultants, and technology vendors. Shape the Finance Workforce of the Future. Assess how Finance roles and capabilities will need to evolve as automation and AI change the nature of Finance work. Develop new career experiences and capabilities that prepare Finance talent for increasingly technology-enabled work. Partner with Finance leadership to build the talent strategy required to support the future Finance organization. What You'll Bring A track record of leading finance transformation in a scaled technology company: ERP/system change, process redesign, automation, data modernization. Hands-on experience building and deploying AI and automation solutions in Finance. Practical fluency in AI, automation, and data, and the judgment to turn them into business results, with the controls to match. Technical depth to engage with Machine Learning and Analytics Engineers on what they’re building and how. Strong working knowledge of SOX, internal controls, and public-company reporting. Experience at a public company is not a must have but we expect a strong working knowledge of SOX, internal controls, and public-company reporting processes. Proven ability to lead through influence across Finance, Engineering, and Data. Strong analytical, executive communication, and change-leadership skills. Comfort moving between strategy and hands-on execution. Bachelor's degree required; MBA and/or CPA preferred. The ideal candidate is: A transformation leader, willing to challenge longstanding assumptions about how Finance should operate. AI-forward and technology fluent, with a practical understanding of how emerging technology can fundamentally reshape Finance. An influential and collaborative change leader, capable of creating alignment across senior leaders and functions without direct authority. Data-driven and intellectually curious, using evidence to challenge assumptions and continuously exploring better ways of working. Enterprise-oriented, focused on improving outcomes for the company rather than protecting traditional functional boundaries.
