About the Role
We're looking for a Senior MEP Designer to produce mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings for commercial restaurant and retail projects. You'll work in Revit and AutoCAD to turn project requirements and engineer direction into clean, accurate, code-compliant construction documents. This role is ideal for an experienced designer who knows restaurant MEP inside and out, takes pride in detailed work, and thrives on a responsive, collaborative remote team.
Key Responsibilities
Produce MEP construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD for tenant finish-outs, ground-up projects, remodels, and second-generation spaces Develop accurate plans, schedules, details, and riser diagrams for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems Coordinate with architects, engineers, and project managers to deliver integrated, well-coordinated drawing sets Apply knowledge of applicable codes (IMC, IECC, NEC, IPC, etc.) to produce code-compliant documents Incorporate redlines and engineer markups quickly and accurately Revise drawings in response to permit and plan review comments, under engineer direction Manage multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality Respond promptly to team requests and keep project status clear and up to date Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience producing MEP drawings for restaurant and/or retail projects in the U.S. Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD Working knowledge of U.S. codes and standards (IMC, IECC, NEC, IPC, etc.) Familiarity with commercial kitchen MEP needs, such as hoods, kitchen equipment connections, grease interceptors, and walk-in coolers Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, consistent drawings Highly responsive, with clear and timely communication Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively on a remote team
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with franchise development projects (e.g., Wingstop, Jersey Mike's Subs, etc.) Experience with multi-site rollouts and prototype-based drawing sets Experience using Bluebeam for markups and review Software & Tools Revit AutoCAD Bluebeam Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) Zoho (Projects, WorkDrive, CRM, Cliq; training provided) Zoom Compensation $75,000 to $105,000 annually, depending on experience and skill level Open to contract or full time for the right person Full workload with consistent project volume Flexible hours and remote work structure Why Work with AEP America?
