Senior PMO Director

Role Description The Senior PMO Director is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading the Project Management Office and ensuring consistent standards, methodologies, and governance across projects and programs. This role oversees portfolio planning, prioritization, and resource allocation, and partners with senior leadership to align initiatives with strategic objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring program performance, reviewing key metrics and dashboards, managing risks and dependencies, and guiding project managers on best practices. The Senior PMO Director will establish and refine PMO processes, lead budgeting and forecasting efforts for project portfolios, and facilitate clear communication among stakeholders. This role also mentors project and program managers, drives continuous improvement, and promotes a culture of accountability and delivery excellence.

Qualifications

Strong analytical skills to interpret data, assess performance, and support strategic decision-making. Proven program management experience, including leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and portfolios. Advanced project management capabilities, with expertise in methodologies, governance frameworks, and risk management. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage executive stakeholders, present findings, and facilitate alignment. Demonstrated budgeting and financial management skills for planning, tracking, and optimizing project and program spend. Experience leading or directing a PMO or similar function in a complex organization. Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, manage distributed teams, and use collaboration tools. Bachelor’s degree in business, management, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PgMP, PMO-CP) are preferred. Background in change management and continuous improvement, with a focus on standardizing processes and enhancing delivery quality. Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills to influence at multiple levels of the organization.
