The firm actively supports portfolio organizations in securing follow-on capital as they grow. Emergent Ventures leverages a broad network of investment funds, investor groups, and high net worth individuals to help founders access additional financing. Team members collaborate closely with emerging companies, contributing to both financial strategy and long-term value creation. Role Description The Vice President Finance is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading financial strategy and operations across Emergent Ventures and its portfolio companies. This role oversees financial planning and budgeting, prepares and analyzes financial statements, and ensures timely, accurate financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders. The Vice President Finance will develop and refine financial models for pre-seed investments and follow-on rounds, support due diligence, and provide data-driven insights to inform investment decisions. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring portfolio performance, maintaining financial controls, collaborating with leadership on capital allocation, and presenting clear, concise analyses to support strategic initiatives. The role also involves building scalable finance processes and tools appropriate for early-stage, fast-growing companies.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in Finance and Financial Planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and capital allocation. Proficiency in preparing and interpreting Financial Statements, with a solid understanding of accounting principles. Experience with Financial Reporting, including management reports, investor updates, and compliance-related reporting. Advanced Analytical Skills, with the ability to build financial models, evaluate investment opportunities, and provide strategic recommendations. Proven experience in senior finance roles at venture capital, private equity, or high-growth startups. Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across distributed teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in presenting complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA) or professional certification (CPA, CFA) is a plus.
