Audit Senior/ Audit Manager
Job Description: A 25-person independent CPA firm in Orange County is hiring an experienced Audit Senior or Audit Manager who can review work, train staff and run engagements without heavy oversight. The firm is about 60% audit, with a respected specialty in for-profit post-secondary schools, a niche few West Coast firms serve and one that brings steady, recurring work. No experience in the niche is required. The partners will teach it to someone curious and ready to grow. This is a strong fit for someone ready to leave a larger firm for a smaller one, and the firm moves into a new Irvine office in mid-January. Responsibilities: Plan, run and wrap up financial statement audits from fieldwork through reporting. Review staff workpapers and coach the team on technical and practical issues. Train and develop audit staff and seniors on the firm’s niche. Serve as a day-to-day contact for clients and manage deadlines and budgets. Learn the compliance requirements specific to post-secondary schools, with partner support. Work on both on-site and fully remote engagements, including out-of-state clients. Qualifications: 4+ years of public accounting audit experience, including reviewing others’ work. Active CPA license, or actively sitting for the exam and committed to finishing. Background at a mid-size or large local or regional firm. Not-for-profit, employee benefit plan or other compliance audit experience is a plus. Comfortable training others and managing your own workload independently. Able to work in the Irvine office as scheduled.
