[Remote] Fullstack Engineer - Podcast

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Spotify is a global podcast platform that develops products and tools for creators and listeners, including content production, distribution, and monetization experiences. The Engineer II will build and improve scalable backend services and APIs for podcast and episode management, while contributing to frontend experiences and collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that power episode and podcast management workflows
• Contribute to user-facing surfaces and frontend experiences using React and TypeScript
• Be an active part of creating and evolving APIs and services that connect user experiences with scalable internal infrastructure
• Drive improvements to system performance and developer experience across the stack
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers across multiple teams to align on requirements and deliver integrated experiences
• Contribute to technical discussions, RFCs, and help shape platform decisions
• Support engineers around you and help maintain a high bar for code quality and operational practices
• Contribute to a culture of experimentation, ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning

Skills

• You have experience building and operating production backend systems using Java, Ruby on Rails, or similar languages and frameworks
• You have some experience with React and TypeScript, or are eager to develop your frontend skills
• You are familiar with distributed systems concepts including asynchronous processing, service-to-service APIs, storage design, and observability
• You care deeply about the user experience for creators, not just the technical implementation
• You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and can communicate your ideas clearly across technical and non-technical audiences
• You have a growth mindset, are curious, and are not afraid to be experimental
• You care about agile software development and a culture of constant learning and improvement
• You have familiarity with or interest in podcast ecosystems and creator tooling
