[Remote] Senior Platform Engineer - Data
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. OMW Consulting is hiring a founding data platform engineer to build the infrastructure supporting distributed maritime sonar and real-time vessel tracking systems. The role will develop high-throughput pipelines that transform raw multi-sensor signals into clean, labeled, reproducible datasets for machine learning and perception teams.
Responsibilities
- Post processing pipelines that align, resample and calibrate multi sensor data
- Backfill and reprocessing frameworks for new filters, syncs, label corrections and metadata enrichment
- Lineage and versioning to guarantee experiment reproducibility
- Dataset discovery and access APIs, queryable by time, region, modality, labels and quality flags
- Data quality metrics, dashboards, alerts and canary dataset builds
- Storage layout optimization across compression, chunking, sharding and prefetching
- Likely a labeling tool and pre labeling workflows built from scratch for the perception team
Skills
- Can architect a high throughput data pipeline from a blank page unassisted
- Solid depth in at least one cloud provider, preferably AWS, with proven experience deploying pipelines to it
- Strong in Python and data tooling such as PyArrow, Polars, Pandas, NumPy and SciPy, plus one of Go, Rust or TypeScript
- Real dataset as a product ownership experience across lineage, versioning and reproducibility
- Around 5 to 8 years experience, startup time weighted heavily
- Low ego, highly autonomous, builds from day one with minimal hand holding
- US citizenship required
- Bonus for full stack range to build ML tooling end to end, and for exposure to edge or sensor data, time sync and geospatial context
